When Love Means Losing Your World:

World Builders

by Johnna Adams

New York, NY — What happens when falling in love means dismantling the world that keeps you safe? World Builders, the thought-provoking play by Johnna Adams, comes to 124 Bank Street this October, presented by Efímero Entertainment SAC and Are We In Love Productions.

The story follows Max and Whitney, two patients in a clinical drug trial designed to cure their personality disorders — and, by extension, their vivid imaginary worlds. But as their inner landscapes begin to fade, they discover something far more fragile: a love that might not survive the real world.

This intimate two-hander stars Erick Del Aguila and Hannah Rose Doherty as Max and Whitney — two dreamers who find connection in a world that asks them to change.

Inspired by personal experiences with mental health, playwright Johnna Adams explores the tension between love, imagination, and reality — asking whether connection is worth giving up the worlds we build to survive.
