The Young Lords – The Musical is a socially relevant new work about the titular social justice group and the rise of their leader Cha-Cha Jimenez.

Catch the premiere with a Staged Reading on May 16th at 11AM and 3PM at The Producers Club (358 W 44th St., Between 8th & 9th Ave, New York, NY, 10036).

Written and composed by Bob Rossi, the story follows the rise of Cha-Cha Jimenez, a central figure of the young lords, and explores his and the group’s deliberations in terms of which fights to fight and how to make strategic change when faced with the overwhelming oppression of the city and the government. From the streets of Chicago to their dramatic takeover of Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, The Young Lords – The Musical follows the rise of this long-forgotten group and empowers audiences to believe in the possibility of change stemming from the heart of the people.

Directed by Alex Sanchez, with musical direction by Robert Barrett Smith, and casting from Elle Jones, the staged reading will feature 22 original songs following the challenges, wins, and celebrations of The Young Lords. Bob Rossi and the artistic team invite you to this new original musical with heart, soul, and a message for these times.
