The Atelier presents “A SOLID APPROACH TO OIL PAINTING” a workshop on Saturday, March 8th, 11-3PM, with Angelo Mariano

Tonal values and edges control are paramount for a successful painting. By using a monochromatic palette, this workshop will aim to provide a solid foundation in oil painting.
This method allows students a simple process that doesn’t overwhelm a beginning painter. In this workshop you will learn the basics of color, how to mix them and use them.
Angelo Mariano has been drawing since his childhood and, after receiving a degree with honors in Philosophy at the University of Bologna, he moved to New York in 2000 to pursue a professional career as a visual artist and as a teacher.
“Painting gives me the possibility to suggest without defining; it is a game that involves the author and the viewer with a freedom that goes beyond the rigidity of words”.
Angelo has been studying painting and etching from 2001 to 2005 at The Art Students League of New York and in 2003 he won a grant for a Summer painting course at the Marchutz School in Aix en Provence, France. His works are in private collections in USA, Canada, Europe and Japan.
The cost for this 1-day workshop, on March 8th from 11AM-3PM, is $95 per person and is open to all skill levels.
Students are asked to bring the following materials: Large plastic palette; palette knife for mxing colors; flat synthetic brushes #2, #4, #6; and a container to clean brushes. The Instructor will provide the oil paint, solvent and a 12” x 16” canvas panel.
