New York City Candlelight Vigil & Press Conference
Supporters will gather at the Actors Temple Theatre with signs and pictures of loved ones who died suffering. We will hold a candlelight vigil to remember Ayla Rain Eilert, a young woman who would have been 25 on this day, but lost her life to tongue cancer in April 2022. Speakers will address the benefits of a medical aid in dying law, and how lawmakers in New York have the power to give dying people the ability to script a peaceful death. There will also be several special performances. This is an in-person event, and we are planning to add a virtual component so that people from across the state can join. Speakers and supporters should begin arriving by 11 am.
