Local Law 97, Sustainable Buildings, Nonprofit Policy Forum

November 17, 2022, 11 amnoon.
$0-$15

Please join Nonprofit New York, NYC Accelerator, and New York Lawyers for the Public Interest (NYLPI) for an overview of Local Law 97, free technical assistance and services available for nonprofits, and the rulemaking and implementation timeline.

In 2019, the City Council passed Local Law 97, the most aggressive and ambitious municipal climate law in the country. If properly implemented, the will create thousands of good family sustaining jobs, move us towards our state mandated climate goals, and directly invest in reducing harmful localized pollution levels in environmental justice communities that have been disproportionately impacted by climate change for too long.

All nonprofits in covered buildings (over 25,000 square feet) will be impacted by the law. Commercial tenants may face renovation and energy expenses passed on by landlords, and nonprofit building owners will face financial penalties for going over their emission limits.
