Li Liu, Traditions of Chinese Acrobatics at the Great Neck Library
Join us for this special Lunar New Year Celebration performance from Li Liu at the Great Neck Library, 159 Bayview Avenue, Great Neck, on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
Li Liu was born in Shenyang, a city in Northeast China. She began her acrobatic training at the age of six and was chosen to attend the Chinese National Circus School the following year in Beijing, the capital city of China.
In 1984, her artistic cycling act won a gold medal at the prestigious Festival Mondial du Cirque de Demain in Paris, France. She often teamed up with her sister, Liu Ying, to create duo acts that were conceived by their coach and father, Liu Gui Ting. In 1995, their duo hand-balancing act was selected to perform at the Wu Qiao International Circus Festival, where they were awarded “The Golden Lion” prize.
Li Liu has continued to perform all over the United States.
