In partnership with the Crossing Party Lines – Braver Angels Long Island Alliance, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Bay Shore will be hosting a community screening of the 2023 documentary “Join or Die.” All are welcome.

Join or Die is a film about why you should join a club — and why the fate of America depends on it. In this feature documentary, follow the half-century story of America’s civic unraveling through the journey of legendary social scientist Robert Putnam, whose groundbreaking “Bowling Alone” research into America’s decades-long decline in community connections could hold the answers to our democracy’s present crisis. Join Bob as he explores three urgent civic questions: What makes democracy work? Why is American democracy in crisis? And, most importantly… What can we do about it?

You can watch the trailer here.

A moderated discussion by Crossing Party Lines – Braver Angels chapter leads will follow the screening of the film.  This promises to be entertaining, stimulating, and motivating—if a bit sobering at the same time.

This is an apt topic for the times we live in and for our community to engage with so we can forge a path forward together. Join and bring your family & friends so they can also join in this important discussion. The event is open to ages 13+. RSVP at the link provided.

THIS IS A PAID EVENT. $10 cash will be collected at the door to help defray costs of screening and to pay the filmmakers. Please RSVP for free so we can keep an adequate head-count.
