JAZZ AT THE BARN – SUNJAY JAYARAM – violin NICO BOND – bass
Sunjay Jayaram (from Irmo, South Carolina) and Nico Bond (from Montreal, Canada) are musicians based in New York City.
After meeting each other at The New School and playing in various bands they decided to start playing as a duo. Playing duo, without drums or piano, requires a deeper concentration than a full band context, as well as a more intimate relationship to the music.
In this challenge Nico and Sunjay have found common ground, and are looking forward to exploring together.
Nicolas is a New York city bass player currently studying jazz at the New School, best known for his contributions within the jazz and avant-garde circles. The improviser has performed in places such as The Stone, Bar Bayeux, Salle Désilets and Théâtre Hector-Charland.
Sunjay Jayaram is a violinist, violist, composer and improviser. He is the current violist in Sirius Quartet, a progressive chamber group that plays its own music. He has worked with a wide variety of groups and ensembles in NYC such as the American Composers Orchestra, 8-Bit Big Band and the chamber orchestra Parlando.
