“Into Sunlight” : in Honor of the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam war

A weekend of engagement with the healing powers of story telling through art and movement. Centered around the critically acclaimed Robin Becker Dance Company’s “Into Sunlight,” this weekend features two screenings of the Ron Honsa documentary chronicling the collaboration between Pulitzer Prize winning author, David Marannis (The Marched into Sunlight: War and Peace, Vietnam and America, October 1967) and the long established New York City dance company, Robin Becker Dance. Screenings are to take place in Oakdale at the CM Performing Arts Center, at 2:00p and 7:00p on Friday (24th).
Saturday (25th), Robin Becker’s masterful work “Into Sunlight” will be performed live on the same stage in Oakdale, again at 2:00p and 7:00p. This masterwork hasn’t been seen onstage in a decade. Brought back to life at the request of CM Performing Arts Center (CMPAC) in Oakdale, the performance offers Long Island the opportunity to experience this profoundly moving and healing work, first-hand.
Along with the screenings and the live performance, Long Island painter John Melillo will be showing some never before seen paintings from his personal collecting that reflect his own time serving in Vietnam.
And, on Sunday (26th), Robin Becker herself will be offering a healing through movement workshop also at CMPAC.
