Idle Hour’s Peace Haven
One of the strangest chapters in Oakdale’s history took place during the Peace Haven years. This began in 1938, when they Royal Fraternity of Master Metaphysicians bought Vanderbilt’s Idle Hour estate and used a wide array of activities, including their Baby Jean experiment. As reported in period newspapers nationwide, this was to prove that immortality could be achieved by human beings.
