In 1939, Hollywood came of age. The monumental list of unforgettable films released that year includes classics such as Gone With the Wind, The Wizard of Oz, and Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. But that was just the beginning of what would prove to be a windfall of memorable motion pictures. Join us as we discover why 1939 is regarded as Hollywood’s Golden Year!

Sal St. George is an award-winning playwright, comedy writer, director, producer, and entertainer with over 40 years of experience in theatre, museums, historic mansions, cultural centers, and theme parks. His work has been critically and commercially acclaimed, and he is widely respected as an expert on American comedy.

Sal is a popular speaker on the subject of Classic American Comedy, 20th Century Pop Culture, and Motion Picture history. He is also an acclaimed Adjunct Professor at several colleges and universities.

This lecture will take place at the Great Neck Library Station Branch, 26 Great Neck Road, 2nd Level, Great Neck, NY, on Friday, February 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Registration is not required.
