Glen Cove Commemorates Martin Luther King Jr. Day
The City of Glen Cove invites the community to come together to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. under this year’s theme, “We Are Stronger Together.”
The event begins at 8:45 AM, as marchers gather in front of First Baptist Church in Glen Cove. The march will lead to Finley Middle School, where a commemorative program will commence at 9:15 AM. The program will feature inspiring speeches, performances, and reflections celebrating Dr. King’s enduring message of unity and justice.
The City of Glen Cove extends its heartfelt gratitude to Sheryl Goodine, Director of the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Commission, and the dedicated volunteers who make this event possible. Their efforts ensure Dr. King’s legacy continues to inspire our community.
In the spirit of service, attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to NOSH, a local food pantry and delivery service. This small act of kindness embodies Dr. King’s vision of communities working together to uplift one another.
This year’s theme, “We Are Stronger Together,” emphasizes the importance of unity and collective action. The City of Glen Cove encourages all residents to join this meaningful day of remembrance, reflection, and service.
