FILM @ LIM: Free Film Screening of The Social Network & Discussion

The Port Jefferson Arts Council and The Long Island Museum have joined forces to bring films to our community that touch upon a variety of topics. This August, join us for a free screening of The Social Network (2010).
In 2003, Harvard undergrad and computer genius Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg) begins work on a new concept that eventually turned into the global social network known as Facebook. Six years later, he is one of the youngest billionaires ever, but Zuckerberg finds that his unprecedented success leads to both personal and legal complications when he ends up on the receiving end of two lawsuits, one involving his former friend (Andrew Garfield). Based on the book “The Accidental Billionaires.”
Following the screening, join us for a thought-provoking discussion about how both Aaron Sorkin’s The Social Network and F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby explore the excesses and pitfalls of the American Dream. Visitors are encouraged to come early to explore LIM’s Gatsby at 100 exhibition before the event. Free Admission to the LIM on Thursdays from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
This program is free, but registration is requested.
