Iris in field plein air

The Atelier at Flowerfield invites you to “Fall Foliage: An En Plein Air Painting Workshop” on Saturday, October 21st, 10AM-4PM.

Painting en plein air, or outdoors, is a pursuit that requires artists to venture out of the studio and into the landscape.  But painting in nature comes with certain challenges unique to the method.

Eric Alexander Santoli (b. 1991) is a painter and teacher.  He is a 2014 BFA graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and a 2013 certificate graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts.  He is currently a graduate student in the MA of Studio Arts Program at the Florence Academy of Art. In May of 2021, Santoli was awarded the Versailles Foundation’s prestigious Munn Fellowship Artist Residency Award.  For this Fellowship, he lived as Artist-in-Residence at Claude Monet’s house and gardens in Giverny, France from May until August of 2023.

Eric will guide students through the entire plein air painting process.  Eric focuses on teaching the principles of painting in simplified terms and includes a deep wealth of art historical knowledge which influences his painting methods and teaching.  Students are welcome to paint in oils and/or watercolor.  Painting in the landscape is a very enjoyable pursuit and all skill levels are welcome, from beginner to advanced.

The fee for this 6-hour workshop, with a ½ hour break for lunch, is $150. Materials are NOT included. To register, go to https://theatelieratflowerfield.org/workshops  or call 631-250-9009 for assistance or more information. We look forward to seeing you!
