ERIDU a Science Fiction Art Show

Westbury Arts’ Featured Artist Series continues this fall with ERIDU – A Science Fiction Art Show, presented by Westbury Arts and Jay Stuart of Poppycock Productions. The exhibition will take place on Sunday, October 5, 2025, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at Westbury Arts, 255 Schenck Avenue, Westbury, NY 11590. Admission is free and open to the public.
Local artist and self-publisher Jay Stuart will debut his seventh graphic novel, Eridu. Known for his mastery of inks, watercolors, acrylics, and airbrush, Stuart has previously released six independent graphic novels and teaches art to both children and adults. His latest work, Eridu, presents retro-inspired science fiction art exploring themes of artificial intelligence, religion, self-awareness, and the mysteries of the unknown. Told without dialogue, the book uses imagery to invite readers to interpret the story’s deeper meaning through its striking visuals.
The exhibition will also feature up to 20 guest artists showcasing science fiction–themed artwork, making this a vibrant celebration of imagination, storytelling, and cosmic vision.
Stuart describes the essence of the show through a quote from philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer: “A man can be himself only for as long as he is alone.” The words echo the solitary vastness of space, the reflective quality of science fiction, and the personal nature of artistic creation.
