Celebrate Memorial Day at Castle Clinton

Ever had burning questions you wanted to ask a historical figure? Now’s your chance! Join Castle Clinton National Monument to celebrate Memorial Day with Francis Scott Key, who wrote the lyrics to our National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Key was inspired to write the lyrics during the War of 1812, as he witnessed the bombardment of Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor. Key will be portrayed by Doug Thomas, and he will be taking questions and visiting with guests from 11am-1pm. Castle Clinton National Monument is located in Battery Park, at the tip of Manhattan.
