The Atelier Flowerfield presents a online lecture, “Body Language in The Composition and Emotional Impact of Art”, by Raymond McGraime on Thursday, October 19th, at 7PM

Do you ever wonder what Mona Lisa is smiling about? A skilled artist can convey a wide range of emotions and intentions. While revealing human figures, alone or in social gatherings, the artist is aware that those individuals have a story to tell through gestures, posture, facial expressions, or eye contact. The role of body language, formally called Kinesics, creates emotion in artistic scenes, while allowing the viewer to empathize with the nuances of those emotions.

Raymond McGraime has been a professional consultant, instructor,
and lecturer in non-verbal communication (body language) and is called upon frequently by the radio, TV, and print media to analyze the movements of prominent figures and celebrities in the news. He is an exceptionally dynamic speaker who has received many instructional awards, including the very prestigious MIT Distinguished Teacher Award.

For this webinar, Ray will use examples of art that attempt to add emotional message in the subjects portrayed and will even illustrate his own struggle with showing a narrative through the use of a single hand gesture in one of his sculptures, “Stigmata,” since he finds inspiration in the communication complexities of the human hands.
