2024 Annual Heroes Against Heroin 5K Walk to Support Overdose Prevention & Education and Addiction Treatment Services on Long Island

The Heroes Against Heroin 5K Walk at Jones Beach State Park was established by the family of John Brower, Jr., who lost his life in 2014 to an opioid overdose. John’s parents, John, Sr. (photo below) and Jody, with their children, Kristen and Robert, founded the foundation to raise funds for overdose prevention, education and treatment. The event, now in its ninth year, seeks to raise awareness about the opioid epidemic and the support needed to fight the problem that has devastated families and communities on Long Island.
